Tell us about a project you’re working on:

I recently worked with a large client to launch a new Knowledge Management System, which houses all of the training content for their customers. It was a very technical project that required a lot of security and accessibility considerations, in addition to being engaging and easy-to-use. What I loved so much about the project was that the client came to Big Drop with a very open mind in terms of design, but with a strict set of requirements for how the site should function. It presented an interesting challenge for myself and our design team, to make a site that is both elegant, and practical. Finding that balance was an iterative process, and required a little bit of give and take on both sides, and it was a really exciting experience to be a part of.

If you had to tell clients one thing to ensure a successful website project, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to open yourself up to design ideas that you might initially shy away from, this is often where the most exciting concepts come from.

What are some influences that motivate you, and your career in digital?

I came to Big Drop with very little experience in digital design, so I’m finding new influences every day. The biggest motivator for me is getting to know my clients, and helping them to overcome the obstacles and challenges they’re currently facing. Building relationships is the best part of the job for me.

What do you think differentiates Big Drop?

Our process is set up to maximize collaboration. Before kicking off any design work, we provide our clients with materials designed to give us as much insight as possible into the needs, likes (and often more importantly, dislikes), and challenges they’re looking to address through our engagement. These insights, along with plenty of opportunity for feedback and input, help us to create a truly unique and tailored experience, rather than providing a “one size fits all” solution.

Speaking of different, tell us something unique about you.

When I was 13 years old, just before starting high school, I was hit by a car and broke my femur. Up until that point, I had always been very involved in sports, but missing a season due to injury set me back and I could no longer compete. Once I recovered, I found my people in theater, where I fell in love with set design, technical direction, and ultimately with acting. I credit that experience with a lot of the things that make me who I am today, including my continued love of building things (and tearing them apart), and my knack for public speaking.
